CNIPA Holds Bilateral Talks with IP Offices of Multiple Countries and Regions

From July 6 to 7, during the 64th Series of Meetings of the Assemblies of the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in Geneva, Switzerland, the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) held bilateral talks with IP offices of multiple countries and regions, shared wisdom on issues of common concern and signed multiple cooperation documents.

During the meetings, CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu introduced the latest developments of China's IP work. He said that the Chinese government has always attached great importance to the IP work. President Xi Jinping stressed strengthening legal protection of IPRs, establishing a foundational system for all-around innovation and getting engaged in the global IPR governance within the WIPO framework. The plan on reforming the institutions of China's State Council this year has implemented major deployments on the management mechanism for IPRs by adjusting the CNIPA into an institution directly under the State Council, which will fully upgrade IPR creation, application, protection, management and service, better perform IP cooperative activities with different partners, strengthen communication in economy/trade, science/technology and culture and boost mutual development.

IP offices of 14 countries and regions including the European Union, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Australia, Chile and Hungary all expressed their wishes to deepen IP cooperation with China and boost innovative development.(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
