SAIC held the press conference about protection of consumers’ rights, saying that the national consumption environment turns better

On March 14, the State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC) held the press conference about protection of consumers’ rights where the Report of National Administrations for Industry, Commerce in 2017 and Market Supervision on Protection of Consumers’ Rights and the Analysis of National Administrations for Industry, Commerce and Market Supervision on Settlement of Consumers’ Complaints in 2017 were both released, and the national Internet-based platform “12315” (phase 2) was introduced too,including its new functions and characteristics.

 

Statistics show that in 2017, the authorities for industry, commerce and market supervision tracked down a total of 40,192 illegal cases of goods consumption, worth 1,289,698,700 yuan and with a fine and confiscation of 325.996 million yuan; 6,778 illegal cases of service consumption, worth 33.7509 million yuan and with a fine and confiscation of 65.2228 million yuan.

 

The Analysis showed that the index of consumers’ rights protection in the Q4 of 2017 was 91.97, up 0.17 percentage points over the same period of the previous year and has exceeded 90 for six consecutive quarters, which indicated that our domestic consumption environment continued to turn better. There are ten hotspot areas of complaint, including garment, home decoration, home appliance, communication devices like mobile phone, transport tools like auto spare parts, livelihood services like hairdressing and beauty, catering and accommodation, Internet service, entertainment and leasing services.
