Shen Holds 2022 Bilateral, Trilateral Talks with JPO, KIPO Counterparts

The 29th CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration)-JPO (Japan Patent Office) Meeting of Heads, the 28th CNIPA-KIPO (Korean Intellectual Property Office) Meeting of Heads and the 22nd CNIPA-JPO-KIPO Meeting of Heads were held via video conference recently. CNIPA Commissioner Shen Changyu, JPO Commissioner Hamano Koichi and KIPO Commissioner Lee Insil led their respective delegations to the series of meetings, reviewed the progress of bilateral and trilateral cooperation projects and signed minutes of the meetings. Deputy Secretary-General SAKATA Natsuko of the Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat spoke at the trilateral meeting.

Shen said the CNIPA has established friendly and effective cooperative ties with the JPO and the KIPO, deepened such relations under the trilateral cooperation framework and harvested palpable results. According to a WIPO report, four of the top five technology clusters of the world are situated in the three countries while East Asia has become a global powerhouse for innovation and IP creation. He said he looked forward to deepening the bilateral and trilateral cooperation, aiding innovation and economic/trade ties in the region and contributing more to global innovative development.

Hamano and Lee praised the cooperation with the CNIPA over the past year. They said the constantly deepening IP ties have effectively promoted friendly communication in science and technology, the economy and other fields among the three countries, adding that they looked forward to further strengthening such cooperation and organizing a face-to-face meeting of the three partners as soon as possible.

In the meantime, the 10th CNIPA-JPO-KIPO IP Users Seminar was held online by the JPO to discuss IP aiding carbon neutrality-related innovation and commercialization, with over 200 participants from the three offices, and IP practitioners and users of the three countries attending the event.(Translated from CNIPA Website Chinese Version)
